All new Brownies will have a special Promise Celebration where they will be given a Promise Badge. Everyone in the guiding family wears a badge like this to show they have made their Promise. The shape on the badge is called a trefoil. Each leaf on the badge stands for each part of the Brownie Promise. The Brownie trefoil is yellow.
Brownie Promise Ceremony
All the new Brownies stand in a line Holding Hands. One of our Young Leaders goes to collect them and says the following while they are walking along the stepping stones -
Come along take my hand
We’ll follow the path to Brownie Land
To find the woods we will walk the Golden Mile
But first put on a special Brownie Smile
Becoming a Brownie is a special thing
We do our business in a Brownie -------- (RING)
This is the door to the Brownie Woods
Knock then answer the way you should.

Brown Owl - What do you want?
New Girls - We want to be Brownies
Brown Owl - Then enter the special Brownie Woods.
Cross your little fingers, stand upon your toes
That’s a bit of magic that every Brownie knows
Now we are standing in a forest glade
Listen very carefully see the magic made.
Sixer takes each new girl to the pond and says
“Twist me and turn me and show me the elf I looked in the water and saw....... new Brownie says "myself"
SPRINKLE SOME MAGIC BROWNIE MAGIC ON NEW BROWNIES WHO SAW THEIR SELF.
Sixer says “This is --------- and she is ready to make her Promise”
Brown Owl - This is a really important day are you ready to make your Promise? Do you know that if you make your Promise you must always do your very best to keep it everywhere and every day.
New Girl - Yes
Brown Owl - Your Brownie Promise you are about to make but first give me the sign and shake
New Brownie gives Brown Owl a handshake and makes the Brownie sign
Brown Owl - Please say your Promise
Brownie Promise
I promise that I will do my best
To love my God
To serve the Queen and my country
To help other people
And to keep the Brownie Guide Law

Promise Badge
After we have all said our Promise together the new Brownies walk to the end of the hall. All the older Brownies take a streamer and get into two lines and form a criss cross of streamers. The new Brownies then run through the streamers, and try to break into Brownies as they tear through them.
Brown Owl and Glassy Owl then hand all the new Brownies their Promise box full of goodies! The new Brownies also get a plant which helps them remember to keep thier Promise. As they take care of the plant they remember to take care to keep thier Promise everywhere and everyday. Not just at Brownie meetings or when they are in their Brownie clothes.
